Conservation and restoration measures on a baroque wood beam ceiling from "Grimm31",
Hamburg-Altstadt The ceiling was brought to the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte, now Hamburg Museum, in the 20th century. Conservator Brigitte Uhrlau and two trainees at the Hamburger Modell have been restoring and conserving it since 2006 on the premises of the Denkmalschutzamt. Apart from an extensive appraisal, the paint layer is being consolidated using a specialised method with compresses. Retouching lost paint areas done in the "Acqua sporca" manner complements the original. The ceiling should be returned to the museum in the summer, 2007. |
